Inerrancy has...I think anynymous has a good point. Inerrancy has historically been a defining mark of evangelicalism. It is the primary doctrinal standard of membership in the Evangelical Theological Society (along with belief in the Trinity). And yet, how many who still claim the identity of "evangelical" have long since abandoned inerrancy?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3489148.post-1163711166440438902006-11-16T15:06:00.000-06:002006-11-16T15:06:00.000-06:00theologically, yes.culturally, no.theologically, yes.
culturally, no.Rickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18081552421873690210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3489148.post-1163624424811947442006-11-15T15:00:00.000-06:002006-11-15T15:00:00.000-06:00Nope. I think it's become more of a political/religious reference than a simply religious one, and I think that it's getting harder and harder to fit the frame around any demographic of substance. Chuck Swindoll and Pat Robertson? Me and Jerry Fallwell?

I think that the "E" word will be a casualty of Church emergence. I think the new "E" word will be "missional," (just one suggestion) which is probably closer to what "Evangelical" originally was intended to mean. Like "Love" is now what "Charity" was a few hundred years ago.Jason Powershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04132323485638741271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3489148.post-1163557324548085822006-11-14T20:22:00.000-06:002006-11-14T20:22:00.000-06:00I do, but don't try to pigeon hole me.I do, but don't try to pigeon hole me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3489148.post-1163551247312085282006-11-14T18:40:00.000-06:002006-11-14T18:40:00.000-06:00yesyesMrs. Carn-Doghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14917496428097681875noreply@blogger.com
